When Should You Start New Year Resolution Ideas?
Are you waiting for December 31st before you plan for the New Year? Are your goals and plans already set for next year? I’m going to share with you how to get going with your new year resolution ideas and how to start them right now, this very minute.
You will find out how to plan and prepare for the new year for your online career, business, side hustle or just for your life in general. And if you are waiting for just the right time to get yourself in order then you are going to be too late. Sometimes it’s best to just get started.
The whole point of planning is that it is something that you do beforehand, not during or after. It’s no point the goalie at a football match stretches his hands up to stop the ball once it whizzes past his ears.
Now that businesses have already put their plans in place and are winding down and getting into the holiday spirit of Christmas now is the opportune time to send out letters, emails advertising your business, and promote your skills for the perfect position so that your application can be included into their agenda for the New Year. You’ll be first in line!
How to Start Planning New Year Resolution Ideas?
You might be wondering where do I start?
Well, first of all, you need to know what you want to achieve, so you might be considering some of the following:
- Next year I want to earn more money
- Next year I want to change my job
- Next year I want to buy/build a house
- Next year I want to save X amount of money
- Next year I want to earn $250 or more per month extra from my side hustle
- Next year I want to start working for myself full-time
That’s the easy part, just like those New Year resolutions we make every year and do not stick to.
What you need to do is make a clear roadmap of where you are now and where you want to go. You have to put a plan in place in how to achieve this goal. So for point one, earn more money you will have to set goals of how to earn more money. This is where starting a bullet journal to jot down your new year resolution ideas and goals and being able to visually see what your plans are in living color is a perfect motivator.
Assess whether you have a special skill that you can make more money from? Have you contacted companies that require your skills, your service or your product? Have you networked with old school, college or work colleagues?
Try looking them up on LinkedIn rather than Facebook to see what they are up to, they might just require your services. And always have an alternative roadmap or a plan B. Just remember maps have A roads and B roads but they both get you to the same destination. Plan B will be your contingency plan.
So step 1 plan to
- Know where you currently are
- Know where you want to be
- Know what your skills and abilities are
- Know what product or service you intend to market
- Plan how you intend to market your product or service
- Know how much time and money you will need to invest

How Do You Start Preparing for New Year Work Resolutions?
I’ve been advised by a mentor that if you have a special interest or want to get into a certain field always get in touch with the relevant people or companies with the knowledge. There’s no point waiting on family and friends to make you an offer, it’s something that you have to do for yourself and you will feel so much better for it.
Try to apply to 5 – 10 companies per day in your field of expertise. Jot down the companies, names, dates and so on, in your bullet journal using a color-coded system of when applied to, deadline, when to chase up and so on. This can be done in a colorful chart form.
Do not send out a generic correspondence, find out the name of the right individual if you can and sell yourself, your services or your product like your life depends on it. Cold calling can also work but if you have someone within your network that can hook you up with a name that’s even better.
One thing to remember, do not dismiss your church family and club or association groups for networking opportunities. Outside of church and clubs, the members go to work just like the rest of us or may have businesses and have great contacts. Try to use their knowledge to your advantage.
So for preparation, you will need to:
- Update your skills if necessary
- Create an online presence
- Stay motivated and be determined
To boost your working life even more, you might want to follow these 17 steps.
It may take some time but stick to the plan and always remember “planning leads to awareness and preparation leads to readiness”. So get ready for the year ahead start your new years resolution ideas right now. Don’t forget to share this post with others.
